Sarongs come in all sorts of colors, designs, and lengths, but our long, black sarong still reigns queen over all the others. Why do black signature pieces retain their popularity over time though? First, we would have to go over the trend that started it all: the LBD or little black dress.

Lupita Nyong’o wears black with metallic accents, usually silver. You will find at least one celebrity with similar coloring to your own that knows how to rock a black ensemble.

Black is slimming, and let’s face it, that’s why pretty much everyone loves it. You don’t really need more than that to like this color.
- It can signify power and elegance at the same time.
Black is a color that absorbs light and because of that it can feel powerful in a room full of lighter colors. Black can signify wealth, elegance, and even luxury. Meryl Streep’s character in the Devil Wears Prada is almost always seen in dark colors like black and eggplant. Audrey Hepburn is known for her black elegant dress in the movie, Breakfast at Tiffany’s. If you want to take up space and be the center of attention, you choose black.
